Winemakers: Baptiste Ramboz
Soft-spoken, charismatic and a tried and true Arboisien, Baptiste covered multiple viticulture regions--and continents--before returning to his native town of Arbois and setting off on his own. Following a BTS and apprenticeship in Bordeaux in 2012, he worked in vines and cellars across Corsica, Provence, the Rhône Valley, Australia and California (including a few months at Flowers, on the Sonoma Coast, for those familiar), eventually coming back to the Jura to complete some serious stints at Tony Bornard (five years) and Les Bottes Rouges (two years). He began making his own wines during this time, farming a bit less than one hectare of Savagnin, Chardonnay, and Trousseau.
In his own words, Baptiste has "more or less always hung around with winemakers," yet his approach to vineyards and winemaking is both extremely personal and reflective of his rich experiences in France and abroad, going far beyond any image or hype. He favors the sale of his wines locally, emphasizing their quality and accessibility. Cultured and so very unpretentious and fun, Baptiste is a staple in the young Jura winemaking community and a central member of the Collectif La Vrille. He has recently taken over additional hectares, plus planted a few. Absolutely a winemaker to follow.
It is my full-on pleasure to be able to present a limited selection of Baptiste's wines to the West Coast.
